1.5kg Sweet Potatoes (orange fleshed yams), peeled & cubed ½ inch
½ (one half) cup butter
2.5 tsp salt
¼ (one quarter) tsp pepper
1/3 (one third) cup maple syrup
Chopped pecans or candied pecans for garnish, optional
Steam the sweet potato cubes for approximately 20 to 25 minutes until soft.
Mash the sweet potatoes with the butter, salt and pepper until smooth.
Mix in the maple syrup thoroughly, and serve immediately. Garnish with optional pecan pieces.
